The Orlando Magic could be strong contenders for the services of free agent forward Chris Webber if they can satisfy his need for playing major minutes. This is according to a source close to the talks.

"The source said interest from other teams in Webber has been strong. He added that, contrary to published reports, Webber would consider playing for teams other than the Detroit Pistons. The Magic are high on that list, the source said."

"He's turned down offers from five teams already," said the source, who asked to remain anonymous. "He's just waiting for the right opportunity to come along, but he would definitely consider playing for the Magic."

Orlando has a $2.6 million Disabled Player Exception that they got for Tony Battie, who is out for the reason with a torn rotator cuff. The exception has to be used by December 10.

While there is interest from both sides, a question of whether he would fit in with Orlando's uptempo style would be a big question.
